White Fiber Head

   The "White Fiber Head", Inocybe geophylla (Cortinariacear, Agaricales) has a small, dry, silky-glossy white cap with white to gray-brown gills and a white stalk.   The cap is approximately 5/8-11/4" wide, conical in shape to nearly flat with a centrl knob.   The gills are attached, close mesh and broad, and are colored whitish to a grayish-brown in color.   The spores, when examined under a microscope, are rectangular in shape measuring 7.5-11x5-7 microns, and are silky in apperance, hairy at the tip, and white in color.   The spore print is a brown in color.   This species of mushroom has been proven harmful and is " POISONOUS " , and NOT to be consumed.

  This mushroom grows year round in the United States.   It is usully found close to coniferous and decidous trees and is widely distributed throughout the United States
