The Thin-maze Flat Polypore, Daedaleopsis confragosa, (Polyporaceae, Aphyllophorales) has a tough, grayish to brown, zoned or furrowed, stalkless cap with mazelike tubes and white to pale brown pores. The cap generally measures 1-6" wide and is convex to flat with a thin sharp margin, grayish to brownish in color. The flesh is 0.2-2cm thick, white to brownish in color. The pores are white to brownish, sometimes brusing to pink. The spores are cylindrical in shape measuring 7-11x2-3 microns, and are curved, smooth and colorless. The spores are white.
The Thin-maze Flat Polypore ranges throughout Canada, and from Maine to Florida, Texas, the Midwest, and the Pacific North West. The seasonal aspects range from June through December, and usually persist for several years. The Thin-maze Flat Polypore grows on willow, birgh, and some other decidious trees, but usually not on oak.
